Christmas Party – 2010 – Fiesta de Navidad

We held our second El Shaddai Christmas Party at a local Chinese Restaurant. This time the owner was not a believer in Christ, like last year, but we decided to host it at his establishment because it was within walking distance to the church facility.

Celebramos nuestra segunda fiesta de Navidad como Iglesia El Shaddai en un restaurant chino cercano al local de la iglesia. El dueño del restaurant no era creyente como el del 2009, pero decidimos celebrarlo ahí porque estaba cerca del local.

We had a Christmas Carol sing time along with special music done by Yilian, Ruth, Alex, Mercedes and Mario.

Cantamos villancicos de Navidad además de música especial por Yilian, Rut, Alex, Mercedes y Mario.

We also had a play performed by children of all ages and sizes.

También tuvimos una obra de teatro protagonizada por niños de todas las edades y todos los tamaños.

Then there was a brief Christmas Story message and then it was time for the food. We had around 60 people, more than half were guests invited by various members of the church.

Luego hubo una corta predicación sobre la Navidad y luego tiempo de comer. Tuvimos alrededor de unas 60 personas, más de la mitad en asistencia fueron invitados por varios miembros de la iglesia.

Then it was time for the children of the church to receive their Christmas presents. We hope that you have received the best present of all time, the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior of your life.

Después del postre era hora de abrir los regalos para los niños de la iglesia. Es nuestra esperanza que usted haya recibido el mejor regalo de todos los tiempos, al Señor Jesucristo como su Señor y Salvador de su vida.  

New Believers – Nuevos Creyentes

A young couple which has been visiting the church and have been having Bible Studies with Mercedes received Jesus Christ into their hearts as Lord and Savior of their lives in late November. It was a rare treat to be able to lead both Mario and Sandra, as a couple, in prayer to receive the Lord together. It was also neat that Ruth could be present for such a joyous occasion. Please pray for their growth as they walk together with the Lord.

Una pareja joven quienes han estado visitando la iglesia y han estado estudiando la Biblia con Mercedes recibieron a Jesucristo en sus corazones con Señor y Salvador de sus vidas a finales de Noviembre. Fue una bendición especial el poder orar con Mario y Sandra juntos como pareja para recibir al Señor. Fue chévere que Rut pudo estar para presenciar una ocasión tan gozosa. Por favor oren por su crecimiento mientras caminan juntos con el Señor.

Thanksgiving Day – 2010 – Día de Acción de Gracias

We celebrated our second Thanksgiving Day as a church in late November. It was well attended. We had a blessed time of sharing testimonies of how the Lord has worked in all our lives along with a short message on being thankful to the Lord. It goes without saying that we had food from several parts of the world represented. We even had a few visitors that had never come to the church before.

Celebramos nuestra segunda reunión del Día de Acción de Gracias como iglesia a finales de Noviembre. Hubo una buena asistencia. Compartimos testimonios de como el Señor ha trabajado en nuestras vidas además de una breve reflexión sobre ser agradecidos al Señor. Por supuesto disfrutamos de comidas de distintas partes del mundo. Además tuvimos algunos visitantes que nunca habían venido a nuestra congregación.

By the way, the men wanted to demonstrate their appreciation to the ladies and all of their hard work during the year as they prepared special dinners for the church by giving the ladies flowers.

Sin que faltara, los caballeros querían mostrar su apreciación a las mujeres por todo el trabajo duro que han hecho las hermanas preparando comidas especiales para la iglesia durante todo el año y lo hicieron por medio de flores.

Ruth Arrives – Llegada de Rut

We have much to be thankful to the Lord. In November 2010, several people and churches had gathered funds in order to present a birthday gift to Marlan’s mother, Ruth. The birthday gift was a trip to Spain in order to visit us and help us during the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. She arrived in mid-November and she was a tremendous blessing to us and to the El Shaddai Church family.

Tenemos mucho para ser agradecidos al Señor. En Noviembre del 2010, varias personas e iglesias reunieron fondos para presentarle un regalo de cumpleaños a la madre de Marlan, dona Rut. Su regalo de cumpleaños fue un viaje a España para visitarnos y para ayudarnos durante las épocas ajetreadas de Acción de Gracias y la Navidad. Ella llego a mediados de Noviembre y fue una bendición tremenda para nosotros y para todos los hermanos de El Shaddai.

Forty - 40 - Cuarenta

Also in August, many of the ladies of the church and Mercedes planned a surprise birthday party for this 40 year old kid. We played games near the river, opened the piñata, ate great food and Mercedes made a huge and delicious Castle Cake, Marlan’s childhood favorite.

También en Agosto, varias de las hermanas de la iglesia y Mercedes planificaron una fiesta sorpresa de cumpleaños para este niño de 40 años. Jugamos juegos cerca del río, abrimos una piñata, comimos muy buena comida y Mercedes hizo un gran y delicioso pastel de castillo, pastel favorito de Marlan desde su niñez.

Sunday School Outing - Escuela Dominical de Paseo

In August, the children of the Sunday school had a day out at a river park. We played at the playground on several of the swing sets and jungle Jims. Then after lunch it was time to go and swim in the river which had been converted to a full fledge beach with white sand and also many water fountains.

En Agosto, los niños de la Escuela Dominical tuvieron su pasadía en el parque del Ebro. Jugamos en el parque en los distintos columpios y juegos. Luego después del almuerzo era tiempo de ir a disfrutar del agua en la playa del río que lo había convertido en una verdadera playa de mar con arenas blancas y con muchas fuentes de agua por todo el parque.

Bautismo El Shaddai Baptism July 31 de Julio 2010

At the end of July we celebrated a very special event, we baptized Enrique and Miguel on the last Saturday of the month. As a church we charted a bus to take all of us to the nearest river/lake known as La Sotonera. The trip lasted a little over an hour, and as we travelled, Mercedes lead the church in songs and choruses. Once we arrived and set up camp we held the service, baptized the two men and then it was time to celebrate with a picnic feast. It was a good day to be outside and enjoy the water and each others company, this was the first time that we had an outing as a church and it was a blessing.


Al final del mes de Julio celebramos un evento muy especial, bautizamos a Enrique y a Miguel el último sábado del mes. Alquilamos un autobús como iglesia para llevarnos todos al río/lago conocido como La Sotonera. El viaje duro un poco mas de una hora, y mientras que viajábamos, Mercedes dirigió a la congregación en coros de alabanza. Después de llegar y preparar el campamento, celebramos el culto, bautizamos a los dos caballeros y luego fue tiempo para celebrar un banquete al aire libre. Fue un buen día para estar afuera y disfrutar del agua y del compañerismo de los hermanos. Esta fue la primera vez que habíamos salido en un pasadía como iglesia y fue una bendición.
