Celebration - Celebracion

In October the La Jota Bible Study group celebrated everybody's birthday on one night. We called it "Happy Birthday to Me". No it was nobody's birthday in particular, however we wanted to give everyone at least one good birthday party. Some told us that even when they were growing up their families were too poor to celebrate a good party for them. Others said that they were pleased to know that they could have fun and enjoy themselves without the booze and alcohol. Mercedes made balloon figures. We played games such as a Japanese version of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" and Biblical Charades. After we sang Happy Birthday, different people sang typical Birthday songs from their countries of origin.

Victoria & Zaragoza

In October we were able to meet up with a dear friend and sister in Christ we had met during the first month we spent in Zaragoza, Victoria. Two years ago she came with a short term church group from California. It was good to see her again and for her to be able to attend one of the home Bible Study meetings in our home.

Ray Czap Flashes Through Spain - El Rayo Czap Hace Viaje Relampago por Espana

Longtime family friend and brother in Christ, Ray Czap, came in September from Ludington, Michigan and spent a few days with us in Zaragoza. We spent time touring spots within the city which we had not been to before including the various Roman ruins within this city which was established by Cesar Augustus himself. Yes the same Cesar Augustus which is in Luke 2. We will share some of what Ray saw through his camera lens and if you want to see something really cool you can check out some other of his pictures at http://www.ludingtonartscouncil.org/contest_slides.html .

La Jota & La Sotonera

The Bible Study Group of La Jota took a day off and went to La Sotonera Lake for a time of refreshing, enjoying God's Creation and to have fun. Even though it looks like a sunshiney day, it was quite chilly that Saturday in mid September.

Agua Viva 2008 Living Water

From June 14 through September 14, Zaragoza hosted the International Expo the theme being Water. We had the blessing of being able to offer the true living water, to the visitors of the Evangelical Pavilion known as “Agua Viva” or Living Water. According to the www.aguaviva2008.org website, the Evangelical Pavilion Agua Viva (Living Water) welcomed 330,905 visitors during the 93 days of the Expo Zaragoza 2008. Some 237,561 visitors watched the evangelistic audiovisual presentation “Mirages” in the pavilion’s auditorium.

While volunteering at the Agua Viva Pavilion, Mercedes met a man (pictured here with Mercedes) that lived nearby the Expo. The man began telling her that one day during the Expo a boy was sitting on the sidewalk near the entrance reading some of the literature given away to kids from the Evangelical Pavilion. The man approached the boy and asked him what he was doing there. The boy looked up at him and replied, “I have been separated from my parents at the Expo and I have been waiting here just in case I see them or they see me.” The man asked the boy if he was scared to which came the answer, “No, I know that I will find my parents, and since I have been reading these booklets I have nothing to fear because Jesus is with me.” Then his parents appeared.

Sebastian & Dolores

Recently we went to visit one of the elderly couples from church that is spending the summer near the Mediterranean Coast. When we arrived, Dolores told us that she had been trying to speak unsuccessfully to her next door neighbor who is from England. One day Dolores was outside of her door reading the Bible and the English lady came out of her door: surprised to see Dolores reading Scripture. Immediately the woman ran back into her apartment and came out with three Bibles. Through crude sign language Dolores let the lady know that she is an Evangelical Christian…however the lady did not understand the message. That night the neighbor knocked on the door, After speaking with her we find out that she has been a believer for several years but since she moved to Spain she did not know where to go to Church. Dolores nearly jumped for joy to find out that her neighbor was also a believer. That weekend we were able to connect her with a Church located in another town and the pastor of the church also spoke English. It was a blessing to be able to serve this lady that was unable to communicate with her neighbor. God works in mysterious ways.
