After nearly three years without seeing Marlan’s parents, Lowell and Ruth Olson, it was a blessing to be reunited with them again. Lowell, who is suffering from NPH, is the king of the living room. He receives attention from several nurses’ aides and other medical care professionals which has been a tremendous help to Ruth throughout the week. We are very thankful for the members of Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Ludington who have also demonstrated on a daily basis their care toward Lowell & Ruth during these years we have not been able to be near physically. Without the church’s support in this area, including many other areas which they support us, we would not be able to do what the Lord has called us to do in Spain. THANK YOU, TRINITY EFC Ludington!!!!!!!!!

Después de casi tres años sin ver a los padres de Marlan, Lowell y Ruth Olson, fue una bendición el poder reunirnos con ellos nuevamente. Lowell, quien padece de NPH, es el rey de la sala. El recibe atención de varias ayudantes de enfermeras y otros profesionales de la medicina quienes han sido una tremenda ayuda para Ruth durante la semana. Estamos muy agradecidos por los miembros de la Iglesia Evangélica Libre Trinity de Ludington quienes han demostrado diariamente su cuidado hacia Lowell y Ruth durante estos años que no hemos podido estar físicamente cerca. Sin el apoyo de la iglesia en esta área, incluyendo tantas otras áreas donde nos apoyan, no podríamos estar haciendo lo que el Señor nos ha llamado hacer en España. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS, IEL TRINITY Ludington!!!!!!!!!

On March 31st at 4:30am we boarded a taxi in Madrid, Spain to take us to the Madrid airport. At 7am we boarded an airplane which would take us to another airplane in London, England to travel back to the United States of America and to Puerto Rico, in order to visit family, friends and supporting churches throughout these two land masses. We left London at 11:45am. Our flight time was between 8 to 9 hours. When we arrived in Chicago at 2pm (1400) we were excited to see Mike, who was waiting for us at the airport and took us up to Hesperia, Michigan. We then proceeded to head a few miles north on our own to Pentwater, where Marlan’s parents live and arrived there at around 10pm (2200). When you add up our travel time from Madrid 4:30am to Pentwater 10pm (2200)…It roughly comes out to 24 hours and 15 minutes. El 31 de marzo a las 4:30am nos montamos en un taxi en Madrid, España para llevarnos al aeropuerto de Madrid. A las 7am nos montamos en el avión que nos llevaría a otro avión en Londres, Inglaterra para viajar a los Estados Unidos de América y a Puerto Rico, para poder visitar a familiares, amigos e iglesias que nos apoyan en estos lugares. Despegamos de Londres a las 11:45am. Nuestro vuelo duro entre 8 a 9 horas. Cuando aterrizamos en Chicago a las 2pm (1400) estuvimos contentos de ver a Mike, quien nos estaba esperando en el aeropuerto para llevarnos hasta Hesperia, Michigan. Luego nos montamos en un automóvil para seguir manejando hasta Pentwater, cerca donde viven los padres de Marlan y llegamos ahí alrededor de las 10pm (2200). Cuando sumas todo nuestro tiempo de viaje desde Madrid 4:30am hasta Pentwater 10pm (2200)...Suma alrededor de 24 horas y 15 minutos. We’ll Be Back Soon – Hasta Pronto

For several months we have been letting the attendees of our home Bible study group know that we would need to travel to the United States and Puerto Rico to visit our family, friends and supporting churches. Why? Was the question many asked us…we need to visit these people because they are our support which keeps us in Spain. We have been in Spain for nearly 3 years and we need to let these churches and individuals know what the Lord is doing through them in Spain. This face to face visit allows them to speak to us and get a good grasp of what is happening with the ministry and how we are doing as well. It is also a very good opportunity for us to “recruit” additional workers, whether long term or short term, for the work of the Lord in Spain. So we held our last home Bible study group meeting before we left for the USA and PR with the brothers and sisters praying for us and having a time of refreshments afterwards. Please pray that these brothers and sisters will be encouraged by the Lord as they seek Him daily in prayer and in the reading of God’s Word, the Bible.

Por varios meses les hemos estado avisando a los asistentes del grupo de estudio bíblico que nos tendríamos que viajar a los Estados Unidos y a Puerto Rico para visitar a nuestros familiares, amigos e iglesias que nos apoyan. ¿Porque? Vino la pregunta de varios...tenemos que visitar estas personas porque son los que nos mantienen en España. Hemos estado en España casi 3 años y necesitamos informarles a las iglesias e individuos lo que el Señor esta haciendo por medio de ellos en España. Esta visita de cara a cara les permite hablarnos y tener una mejor idea de lo que esta ocurriendo con el ministerio y también como nos sentimos nosotros. También es un buen momento para “reclutar” más obreros, sea para largo tiempo o para poco tiempo, para la obra del Señor en España. Entonces nos reunimos por última vez con los hermanos y hermanas del estudio bíblico antes de nuestro viaje para los EEUU y PR, donde oramos los unos por los otros y luego compartimos algo para comer. Por favor oren para que estos hermanos y hermanas estén fortalecidos en el Señor por medio de la oración y por medio de la lectura de Su Palabra, la Biblia diariamente.

M & M – La Coruña

In March we were able to ride an all night train to spend a couple days visiting with another one of Marlan’s Chicago friends, Rob and Nancy and their family. We also met with Nancy’s parents which have a Venezuela connection with Marlan’s parents. We had the privilege of attending one of their church services and enjoying getting to know other missionaries with whom they work with in western Spain. Even though the travel conditions were rough back and forth, we had a wonderful time reuniting with wonderful friends and co-laborers.

En marzo pudimos viajar en un tren toda la noche para pasar un par de días visitando otros amigos de Marlan de sus días en Chicago, Rob y Nancy y su familia. También conocimos a los padres de Nancy quienes tienen una conexión con los padres de Marlan en Venezuela. Tuvimos el privilegio en asistir uno de sus cultos y tener el gusto de conocer otros misioneros con quienes ellos trabajan en la región occidental de España. A pesar de que las condiciones del viaje no fueron muy favorables en la ida y la vuelta, tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso en reunirnos con buenos amigos y colaboradores en la obra.

We are thankful to the Lord for allowing us to visit a couple of families in Barcelona, Spain over a weekend in February. First we visited Daniel, one of Marlan’s school mates from Moody Bible Institute, and his wife Elena. It has been several years since we have seen each other. We spent a couple of days seeing the sights and reminiscing Moody and Chicago days. Then we spent a day with new friends, Carmelo & Maria Jose, relatives of some of the members of the Bible study group in Zaragoza. We were able to encourage and be encouraged in what the Lord is doing in this multi cultural city on the Mediterranean Coast.

Le damos las gracias al Señor por permitirnos visitar a dos familias en la ciudad de Barcelona, España durante un fin de semana en febrero. Primeramente visitamos a Daniel y su esposa Elena. Daniel y Marlan estudiaron juntos en el Instituto Bíblico Moody en Chicago, y había pasado mucho tiempo desde que se han visto. Pasamos un par de días viendo algunos sitios de la ciudad y recordar días pasados en Moody y en Chicago. Luego pasamos un día con nuevos amigos, Carmelo y Maria Jose, parientes de algunos miembros del estudio bíblico en Zaragoza. Pudimos animar y ser animados en lo que el Señor esta haciendo en esta ciudad multi cultural ubicada en la costa mediterránea.
