Agua Viva 2008 Living Water

From June 14 through September 14, Zaragoza hosted the International Expo the theme being Water. We had the blessing of being able to offer the true living water, to the visitors of the Evangelical Pavilion known as “Agua Viva” or Living Water. According to the www.aguaviva2008.org website, the Evangelical Pavilion Agua Viva (Living Water) welcomed 330,905 visitors during the 93 days of the Expo Zaragoza 2008. Some 237,561 visitors watched the evangelistic audiovisual presentation “Mirages” in the pavilion’s auditorium.

Desde el 14 de junio hasta el 14 de septiembre, Zaragoza fue el anfitrión de la Expo Internacional del Agua. Tuvimos la bendición de trabajar como voluntarios en el Pabellón Evangélico conocido como Agua Viva. Ofreciendo la verdadera agua viva a los visitantes. Según la pagina web www.aguaviva2008.org , durante los 93 días de Expo Zaragoza 2008, el total estimado de visitas al Pabellón Evangélico Agua Viva ha sido de 330.905. De ellas, 237.561 han visto el audiovisual evangelístico «Espejismos», en el auditorio.

While volunteering at the Agua Viva Pavilion, Mercedes met a man (pictured here with Mercedes) that lived nearby the Expo. The man began telling her that one day during the Expo a boy was sitting on the sidewalk near the entrance reading some of the literature given away to kids from the Evangelical Pavilion. The man approached the boy and asked him what he was doing there. The boy looked up at him and replied, “I have been separated from my parents at the Expo and I have been waiting here just in case I see them or they see me.” The man asked the boy if he was scared to which came the answer, “No, I know that I will find my parents, and since I have been reading these booklets I have nothing to fear because Jesus is with me.” Then his parents appeared.

Mientras que trabajábamos en el Pabellón de Agua Viva, Mercedes conoció un señor (en la foto con Mercedes) que vive cerca de la Expo. El hombre le contó que un día durante la Expo un niño solo estaba sentado en la acera cerca de la entrada, notó que el niño tenía mucha propaganda de diferentes Pabellones y entre todas estaba leyendo las revistas regaladas a los niños en el Pabellón Evangélico. Este hombre se le acerco y le pregunto que estaba hacienda allí. El niño le respondió, “He perdido a mis padres en la Expo y estoy aquí esperando, por si acaso los veo cuando salgan o ellos me vean a mi.” El hombre le pregunto al niño si tenia miedo y el respondió; “No, porque leyendo estas revistas se que no tengo nada que temer porque sé que Jesús esta conmigo yo se que encontrare a mis padres.” Sí, se encontraron.

Sebastian & Dolores

Recently we went to visit one of the elderly couples from church that is spending the summer near the Mediterranean Coast. When we arrived, Dolores told us that she had been trying to speak unsuccessfully to her next door neighbor who is from England. One day Dolores was outside of her door reading the Bible and the English lady came out of her door: surprised to see Dolores reading Scripture. Immediately the woman ran back into her apartment and came out with three Bibles. Through crude sign language Dolores let the lady know that she is an Evangelical Christian…however the lady did not understand the message. That night the neighbor knocked on the door, After speaking with her we find out that she has been a believer for several years but since she moved to Spain she did not know where to go to Church. Dolores nearly jumped for joy to find out that her neighbor was also a believer. That weekend we were able to connect her with a Church located in another town and the pastor of the church also spoke English. It was a blessing to be able to serve this lady that was unable to communicate with her neighbor. God works in mysterious ways.

Recientemente visitamos a una de las parejas ancianas de la iglesia que están pasando su verano cerca de la costa del mar Mediterráneo. Cuando llegamos, Dolores nos contó que había intentado hablarle sin éxito a su vecina inglesa. Un día ella estaba sentada en el pasillo fuera de la puerta de entrada leyendo su Biblia y la señora inglesa salió de su apartamento y se sorprendió cuando vio a Dolores leyendo las escrituras. Inmediatamente la señora entro de nuevo a su piso y salió con tres Biblias en sus brazos. Por medio de señas Dolores intento infructuosamente explicarle que ella es cristiana evangélica. Aquella noche, la vecina, llamo a la puerta y después de hablar con ella nos alegramos al saber que ella también ha sido creyente por varios años, pero desde que llego a España no sabia donde podría congregarse. Dolores por poco salta de alegría al enterarse por fin que su vecina era una hermana en Cristo. Ese fin de semana pudimos conectarla con una iglesia en la que pastor habla ingles. Fue una bendición el poder servir a esta señora que no podía comunicarse con su vecina. Dios obra de formas misteriosas.

On August 12th, the cell group recognized, Jose Antonio as the person who distributed the most Evangelistic Packets in La Jota during the June-July Evangelistic Campaign. José Antonio was thankful to receive his new Large Print Bible.

El 12 de agosto, la célula reconoció a José Antonio como la persona que distribuyo mas paquetes evangelisticos en La Jota durante la Campaña Evangelistica de Junio – Julio. José Antonio estuvo agradecido al recibir su nueva Biblia Letra Grande.

On the August 7th, as a surprise to all of us, Josué Israel was born. We celebrate along with Julissa and Alex, and welcome this new life. Mercedes spent the day and evening with Julissa since the father, a truck driver, was stuck on the road when she went into labor. The cell group sprang into action once we all knew what was happening. Welcome Josué Israel!

El 7 de agosto, como una sorpresa para todos, nació Josué Israel. Celebramos con sus padres Julissa y Alex y le damos la bienvenida a esta nueva vida. Mercedes paso todo el día y la noche con Julissa desde que el padre, un camionero, estuvo de viaje cuando ella estuvo de parto. Los miembros de la célula entraron en acción ya cuando todos nos enteramos lo que sucedía. ¡Bienvenido Josué Israel!

Esther, Damaris & Pilar Esther

On the same day and in the same hospital, Damaris, the pastor’s daughter also gave birth to Esther. Congratulations Damaris and Alberto!

En el mismo día y en el mismo hospital, Damaris, la hija del pastor también estuvo de parto y dio a luz a Esther. ¡Felicidades Damaris y Alberto!

Anna & Zaragoza

Anna arrived to Zaragoza from Germany. She has been a blessing to us, the cell group, the church. She has been involved with the children, the music, and the cell group. Anna has been working with Yilian on the upcoming La Jota Group Talent Night which will be Saturday, September 20th at 6pm at the Zalmedina Street Church.

Anna vino a Zaragoza de Alemania. Ella ha sido una bendición para nosotros, la célula, y la iglesia. Ella ha estado involucrada con los niños, la música, y la célula. Anna ha estado trabajando con Yilian en la próxima Noche de Talento del Grupo de La Jota que será sábado, 20 de septiembre a las 18:00 en la Iglesia Cristiana de la Calle Zalmedina.
