Leaving Behind 2018 Quedando Atras

We are thanking the Lord for all of His blessings during 2018. 

 

Le damos las gracias al Señor por todas Sus bendiciones durante el 2018.

Even during the hardships, He gives us the strength to not only continue, but to soar as eagles. 

Aun en medio de los desalientos, El nos da la fortaleza para no solo continuar, pero levantar alas como las águilas. 

Isaiah 40:31
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

31 pero los que esperan a Jehová tendrán nuevas fuerzas; levantarán alas como las águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán; caminarán, y no se fatigarán.  

Psalm 73:26  My flesh and my heart may fail,  but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 

Salmo 73:26  Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen; Mas la roca de mi corazón y mi porción es Dios para siempre. 

 

Puerto Rico 2018

We are grateful to the Lord for His protection over family and friends that have endured the Hurricanes Irma and Maria last year and their aftermath in Puerto Rico. Many are in the process of rebuilding property damage. However many have had difficulty processing everything which has transpired over the past several months. Please pray for Puerto Rico in all aspects of rebuilding.

Le damos gracias al Señor por Su protección sobre familiares y amigos que han perseverado los huracanes Irma y María el año pasado y la secuela de destrucción que dejó en Puerto Rico. Muchos están en el proceso de reparar los daños materiales. Pero, muchos han tenido la dificultad de procesar todo lo ocurrido en los últimos meses. Por favor oren por Puerto Rico y todos los aspectos de la reconstrucción. 

March 2017 Marzo

We are so grateful that Pastor Osvaldo and Miriam Silveira visited us during March. They came from “Cristo es la Roca” (Christ is the Rock) a church in Wauconda, IL. This Hispanic congregation has been supporting us for many years. They also pastor “Manantial de Vida” in Round Lake. 
 
Estamos agradecidos por la visita del Pastor Osvaldo y Miriam Silveira durante el mes de Marzo. Vinieron de la Iglesia “Cristo es la Roca” en Wauconda, IL. Esta iglesia hispana nos ha apoyado por muchos años. También pastorean la Iglesia “Manantial de Vida” en Round Lake. 

 It was a wonderful time of encouragement for the brethren at El Shaddai. Pastor Osvaldo came to preach & teach the Word. Miriam shared with the ladies in a wonderful tea time. We had the blessing of celebrating with them their 38th wedding anniversary. Please pray for them as they continue working for the Lord state side.

Fue un maravilloso tiempo de ánimo para los hermanos de El Shaddai. El Pastor Osvaldo compartió la palabra en predicación y en el estudio con los hombres. La hermana Miriam compartió con las damas en una esplendida tarde de te. Tuvimos la bendición de celebrar con ellos su 38 aniversario de bodas. Por favor oren por ellos mientras que continúan sirviéndole al Señor en los Estados Unidos.

January 2017 Enero

It has been a whirlwind for us and El Shaddai. Every January for many years the Evangelical churches in the city of Zaragoza have held a united week of prayer. 

Ha sido como un torbellino para nosotros y El Shaddai. Cada Enero las iglesias evangélicas de la ciudad de Zaragoza se han reunido para orar juntas. 

In December the area Pastors asked us if El Shaddai could host one of the evenings of prayer. We were all stunned, elated, nervous, hopeful, and thankful for being considered to serve in this way. This was a true first for El Shaddai, a new and small church, was asked to host one of the main events for the Zaragoza body of Christ. 

En Diciembre los pastores le pidieron a El Shaddai si podíamos ser anfitriones de una de las noches de oración. Estábamos sorprendidos, maravillados, esperanzados y agradecidos por haber sido considerados para servir de esta manera. Esto fue una verdadera primicia para El Shaddai, una nueva iglesia pequeña, se le pidió ser anfitriona de uno de los eventos importantes para el Cuerpo de Cristo en Zaragoza. 

It was a full house on a Tuesday night. There were more people than when we had our Anni-versary. Needless to say we were packed. Mercedes led the worship time and Enrique, a pastor of another Zaragoza area church preached. Marlan also preached on the Wednesday evening prayer service in a different church in the area. 
 
Fue casa llena para un martes por la noche. Habían más personas que los que llegaron para el aniversario de la iglesia. Mercedes dirigió la alabanza y Enrique, un pastor de otra iglesia en Zaragoza predicó. Marlan también predicó en otra iglesia el siguiente miércoles.

Is it May already? / ¿Ya es Mayo?

My goodness where has the time gone? As I looked at the blog, which you have noticed we were counting our blessings. Apparently looking back at 2016 will have to wait just a little longer. Why? Because 2017 came in with a mighty rush. 

Que barbaridad ¿donde se nos ha ido el tiempo? Al mirar el blog, como podrán notar estuvimos contando nuestras bendiciones. Aparentemente el mirar atrás al 2016 tendrá que esperarse un poco mas. ¿Porque? Porque el 2017 ha entrado como un viento recio. 

As some of you church history buffs will know, 1517 is the year that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the door in Witenburg. Now nearly a few months shy of 500 years of that event, we are celebrating it in Spain. To be more specific we, the church, have been celebrating this event in Zaragoza.

Como algunos de ustedes amantes de la historia eclesiástica sabrán, el 1517 es el año que Martín Lutero martilló sus 95 Tesis sobre la puerta en Witenburgo. Ahora faltando unos meses de los 500 años de aquel evento, nosotros estamos celebrándolo en España. Para ser mas especifico nosotros, la iglesia, hemos estado celebrando este evento en Zaragoza. 

 

Counting our Blessings in 2016 / Enumerando las Bendiciones en 2016

Thinking back on 2016, there are many events which have happened in our communities and around the world that cause us to either recoil or rejoice. Whether it be natural disasters, man-made horrors, miracles, achievements, births, deaths, victories, losses, trials and triumphs, there is always a constant…God is still in control.

Recordando al 2016, hay muchos eventos que han ocurrido en nuestras comunidades y alrededor del mundo que nos causan a retroceder o a regocijar. Sean desastres naturales, horrores hechos por el hombre, milagros, logros, nacimientos, muertes, victorias, derrotas, pruebas y triunfos, hay siempre una constante… Dios sigue estando en control. 

 

We are going to count our blessings looking back at each month of this year and thank the Lord for His many blessings. Naturally, we are not referring to world events; we will look back at what has happened in the ministry of El Shaddai.

Vamos a enumerar las bendiciones, recordando cada mes de este año y darle gracias al Señor por Sus muchas bendiciones. Naturalmente, no nos estamos refiriendo a los eventos mundiales; recordaremos lo que ha ocurrido en el ministerio de El Shaddai.  

One of the items you will notice is that we were able to highlight most of the Jewish Feasts and important dates on the Hebrew calendar during this year. Due to the Hebrew calendar and the Gregorian calendar experiencing leap years, we had the opportunity to celebrate these special dates either on Sundays or on other days we normally hold a service. This way the people were exposed to the special days which Jesus celebrated in one way or another.

Uno de los elementos especiales que notaran fue el poder resaltar la mayoría de las Fiestas Judías y fechas importantes del calendario Hebreo durante este año. Debido a que los calendarios Hebreo y Gregoriano estaban en años bisiestos, tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar estas fechas especiales los domingos o en otros días que normalmente tenemos culto. De esta manera los hermanos fueron expuesto a los días especiales que Jesús celebraba de una manera u otra.

Evangelist Jeffrey D Miller Coming To Zaragoza / El Evangelista Jeffrey D Miller Viene a Zaragoza

 

We have invited long time friends and co-laborers in the work of the Lord, Jeffrey D and Karen Miller to come and minister to the El Shaddai family for the church's 7th Anniversary in November.

Hemos invitado a viejos amigos y co-ministros en la obra del Señor, Jeffrey D y Karen Miller para venir y ministrar a la familia de El Shaddai para el Séptimo Aniversario en noviembre.

 

We met in Puerto Rico when Marlan was serving with WBMJ, a Christian radio station in San Juan. The station carries the five minute daily radio show Messianic Minutes which is hosted by Jeffrey D Miller and Ted Simon. Jeffrey came to Puerto Rico to share his testimony with several churches on the island. Marlan would translate for Jeffrey into Spanish.

Nos conocimos en Puerto Rico cuando Marlan servía con la emisora cristiana WBMJ en San Juan. La emisora difunde el programa diario de cinco minutos Messianic Minutes o Minutos Mesiánicos que los anfitriones son Jeffrey D Miller y Ted Simon. Jeffrey vino a Puerto Rico para compartir su testimonio a varias iglesias en la isla. Marlan traducía para Jeffrey al Castellano.

Since that time and other times that Jeffrey and Karen would travel to Puerto Rico, we had the privilege of hosting them in our home. We would also fellowship with them when we would volunteer at NRB conventions before coming to Spain. They have also supported this ministry through thick and thin.

Desde aquel momento y en otras ocasiones que Jeffrey y Karen viajaban a Puerto Rico, nosotros tuvimos el privilegio de hospedarlos en nuestro hogar. También pudimos compartir con ellos cuando nosotros íbamos de voluntarios a la convención de la NRB, antes de venir a España. Ellos también han apoyado este ministerio en las buenas y en las malas.

The church has been praying about this for a few months and we are looking forward to their ministering of the Word and the fellowship that we will have together. Also we are praying that other churches in the area will be able to have the privilege and the blessing of having Jeff and Karen in their congregations with their ministry.
